National holidays are those that are stipulated by the government and are thus stipulated by the law while on the other hand public holidays are the well accepted annual celebration days.
In Some countries where there exists more than one religion, the public holidays are well outlined and are almost the same as national holidays, so that the country remains in harmony as the different religions mark the festivals on international public holidays. Many of these public holidays are not only meant for celebration purposes but also to appreciate the magnitude of events and timeliness, common school holidays are marked to give the children the needed attention and mainly for child development the likes of childrens day, teachers day and youth day. Some national holidays are also reason for school holidays by virtue of the meaning of the day, Independence Day which is patriotic to everybody and has to be respected by all. Public holidays are meant to be observed under the countries policies and although they may vary in different countries, most businesses and public amenities have to be closed on these days as will be observed in the public holiday 2012.
